Week 30

hey everyone,

well i didnt get transfered so thats good! also my companion is staying with me and only one of the zone leaders got transferred. the new zone leader that came in is my old district leader, elder campbell! so he will be living with us now and will probably serve in jinhae for his last 4 transfers. this week was really good and i learned a lot today at the transfer meeting we had at the mission office. President gilbert talked to us about a new way of teaching investigators with the book of mormon. often times as missionaries we share scriptures that are applicable to the investigators situation or share promised blessings they can recieve, but more often then not, that's about it. president gilbert now wants us to share book of mormon stories with investigators and members instead of just a few verses. I really think this new way of teaching will be able to help investigators learn and also feel the spirit more in their conversion. if we share these stories, the investigators can really put themselves in that person's shoes and understand how a certain principle can help them directly. so that was really cool, hopefully we can try that with our investigators this week. also last week we found a new investigator through basketball! he can speak english pretty well and wants to practice with us and is pretty open about religion. he is christian so he has a lot of solid foundation already. we havent met with him yet but we should this next week!
Kim Iksu's younger brother hisu, we were able to talk with him again this week. we talked a little bit about baptism and why it is important. after we met i also kinda thought more about why it is important to be baptized. i thought a lot about being brought out of the water and how that signifies being reborn and our commitment to follow jesus christ's example throughout the rest of our lives, not just by being baptized. ive been thinking about that a lot since the zone leaders had a baptism yesterday. brother han dae gor got baptized yesterday and will be confirmed next week! so exciting for him, he said he felt like this church is exactly what hes been looking for in his life and now hes found it. really cool. not a ton of time again today since we went to busan and back, but thank you all for your prayers and love, i love you all and may god be with you!

Week 29

hey mom and dad, not a ton of time today but this week was interesting. my companion elder choi had an emergency family situation and here in korea if that happens, they get to go home and be with family. his grandmas health isnt doing so great so he went to seoul for 3 days and stayed with his family. i was in a 3some with the zone leaders for a couple of days. so it was interesting but he came back and his family is doing ok. his grandma will pass away soon but he got to see her again one last time so thats good. its a little it cold but my jacket is perfect, not too bad thanks. since we were in a 3some for a couple of days, we met with mostly the zone leaders investigators. we met one that has a baptismal date next week and taught him about following the prohet. hes awesome! hes jsut excited for his baptism and getting all prepared for that. once elder choi came back, we tried to meet with Jun Tuk Chun but he was busy and couldnt meet with us. we prayed about a baptismal date and we think that he could be ready by march 23rd so next time we meet, we might try to ask him to be baptized if the spirit directs. hes been taught all the lessons and hes progressed very slowly but i think hes ready. besides that, im doing better, the 103 fever went away pretty quickly and hasnt come back. this week is transfer calls on thursday! hopefully i dont get transferred! ill let you know! love you!

Week 28

hello ~ my name is iksu kim come on korea!! eggnog

hey everyone,

^^^ that was from a recent convert named iksu kim. haha he is so funny and hes at the church with us right now when we email. he wants you all to know that he is good at basketball. haha anyway... so this week was an interesting week. we went to teach an investigator Jun Tuk Chun about the family but he was really late so we waited on a bench for like 30 minutes. it was really cold and there was so much wind! we met with him and talked a little bit about the family and he had no questions about it, he seemed to accept everything pretty well. after the lesson we went back home and i started not too feel very good. later that night i was freezing and checked my temperature... 103.2! i had a terrible fever! but it was weird, i dont think ive ever had a fever this high but it really didnt hurt that bad, my head just felt really big. so the next day we didnt do too much as far as missionary work, just prepared for a youth activity for saturday. we stayed at the church all day and i could still work for some reason! i really feel like God blessed me enough to be up and able to help! after i took some more medicine and slept, i felt much better, my fever was gone the next day!
so for the youth activity, we were going to act out and teach the plan of salvation in a fun way so we practiced with all the members helping out. On saturday we had lots of youth come to the meeting, maybe about 15 and it was really fun! but then after we made a big mistake and went street contacting outside when it was really really cold... later that night i had the chills and another fever of 102. so sunday at church was kinda hard and we also didnt do a whole lot that day, just prepared some message cards for members we wanted to visit. I took lots of medicine and a hot shower and this morning i feel much better, again. no fever haha this week was a little shaky but i know that god help me out big time, no way i couldve gotten better without his help. so thankful! hope you all have a good week! thanks

Week 27

hey everyone,

this week was good in jinhae! so we started off the week right by playing basketball with a less active about the same age as us. After, we talked about doing the small things in order to achieve great things and eventually recieve salvation in the celestial kingdom. He hasn't come to church in awhile so we invited him to come to church and he came! he only stayed for sacrament meeting but he talked to my companion after and said that he got a really good feeling when he was at church! we are going to play basketball with him again and try to invite him to other little things like read the scriptures.

We met with a different investigator named daniel seo. he lived in america for 20 years so he can speak really good english! this was my first time meeting with him, whenever we called him he always said that he was busy and couldn't meet with us but he finally was able to this past week. He works all day and his sister just got in a car accident so right after work he goes to the hospital to stay with his sister. we met him at the hospital and just talked with him for a little about his family. We talked about the restoration and he said that he is open and willing to learn about other churches and said that he wants to come to church when he doesnt have to work so thats good! but, when we continued to talk he said that he believed in the trinity and that all you needed was the bible. ahh... so we tried to explain a little bit more about God and Jesus Christ and he just nodded his head. He is a very good guy and really open, but he still believes in the trinity. Just my opinion, but i think if he can come to know that Heavenly father and Jesus Christ are separate beings, he will be a golden investigator. It seems like he really wants religion and just wants to find truth!
The members in Jinhae are really great, this past week i think we had probably 4 meal appointments which never really happens too often! I ate delicious shark this week and lots of good kimchi! it was weird, i was thinking about what food will be like back in america and i dont know how i will survive without korean food everyday... it will be a struggle.. haha anyway, thanks for everything everyone! keep praying for the missionaries, we can feel your prayers! love you all!
